Beethoven: Piano Sonata in Ab major, op. 110
The thirty-year-old German pianist, Elisabeth Brauß, has already made a huge impression for the imaginative depth and searching profundity of her interpretations of the classical mainstream repertoire, with her concert last May of music by Beethoven, Schumann and Prokofiev last year being undoubtedly one of the highlights of the last season. We are excited to welcome Elisabeth to the JdP as part of the International Piano Series for a programme that contrasts Beethoven’s marvellous Ab major piano sonata op. 110 with music by Scandinavian composers Edvard Grieg – presenting an intriguing selection from across the composer’s long career – and the post-minimalist contemporary composer, Hans Abrahamsen.
