This is a rare opportunity to hear Mussorgsky’s brooding song cycle, ‘Songs and Dances of Death’, such an inspiration to Shostakovich’s final works. Aspects of the Mussorgsky can be felt in Jeremy Arden’s ‘Songs from Hell’ for voice and piano, as well as Martyn Harry’s ‘Chamber Intimacy’, a piece which Lore Lixenberg has just recorded for Toccata Records. Organised by Studio Kükai as a co-production with the JdP.
