The outstanding violinist SongHa Choi is a laureate of the 2024 Queen Elisabeth Competition and prize winner at the 2023 Montreal International Violin Competition with performances at the Wigmore Hall, Royal Festival Hall and Berliner Philharmonie under her belt. SongHa has a particular affinity for the music of Béla Bartók and is performing all the great Hungarian composer’s violin sonatas this season, with the Bartók solo violin sonata following later in the season on May 18th at 38 St Giles. The two sonatas for violin and piano from the early 1920s represent Bartók’s modernism arguably in its purest form. The unique synergy between Songha Choi and Jeonghwan Kim, first prizewinner in last year’s Bartók World Competition, ensures that this is a performance is not to be missed.
