End of Term Recap
We have had a fantastic term here at the JdP with a variety of concerts. Our Concert Series started with featured artist Jonathan Powell giving a recital of Russian Music. We then enjoyed a concert by our new ensemble-in-residence the Villiers Quartet. The Oxford Contemporary Opera Society returned this year with a very exciting mini-festival of new opera 'shorts' composed, devised and performed under the overall direction of Zerlina Vulliamy. We finished our Concert Series for the term with the annual, much-loved recital given by Steven Isserlis with pianist Stephen Hough. Alongside these concert we have also enjoyed a revamped Cushion Concert Series: SoundStories led wonderfully by Catriona Scott in our Family & Education Series and Wild Boor Ideas returned with the fantastic Christmas Show: Supermarket Scrooge. DANSOX, which has been growing steadily for a few years now, has had a very successful term with more concerts than ever before! The weekly Lunchtime Recitals curated by St Hilda’s Director of College Music, Dr Jonathan Williams have also had a successful term.
Next term we will have a programme just as busy - particular highlights will include a visit by the Royal Ballet, a recital by James Gilchrist and Anna Tilbrook and, of course, the continuation of our SoundStories family series.
