Biography
Dr Clara Albiñana is a Lundbeck Foundation Postdoctoral Fellow in the Department of Psychiatry and Big Data Institute at the University of Oxford. She joined St Hilda’s College as a Junior Research Fellow in Medicine in July 2026.
Clara trained in bioinformatics and statistical genetics at Aarhus University in Denmark, where she completed her PhD in Statistical Genetics in 2023. She has also held visiting research positions at the Broad Institute of MIT and Harvard and the University of Queensland before moving to Oxford in 2024.
Her research focuses on understanding the biological mechanisms underlying psychiatric disorders using large-scale population data. Her current work investigates the role of circadian rhythms and sleep in mental health, integrating genetics, proteomics, wearable-derived measures and health records. In particular, she is developing scalable molecular measures of internal circadian timing and studying whether circadian disruption can identify biologically and clinically meaningful subtypes of mood disorders.
